On Thursday, May 25, 2017, Daqu Kalibata City Primary School Jakarta conducted a graduation ceremony for the Grade Six students who are leaving the school as the first batch. The event that was held in the building of Graha Makarti Karya Muktitama Kementerian Pedesaan dan Transmigrasi, Jl. Raya Kalibata, South Jakarta, from 8 am to 1 pm,  was an unforgettable farewell celebration for our students who have studied for the last six years in their beloved alma mater.

“This is really a sad moment for us, but at the same time we also feel so happy that we finally graduated from primary school. Life must go on and therefore we have to leave our old school. I loved all of the events offered at Daqu School Kalibata City, Jakarta. The teachers are welcoming warmly and they let me experience a wide range of activities and extracurricular programs. Attending these events expanded my circle of friends and social network, which also broadened my curiosity to learn more”, said Mahirah Syah, one of the Grade six alumnae happily.

“Thinking about my plans after graduation brings on different emotions: I’m excited, nervous, happy, anxious and sad. As excited as I am to be graduating from Daqu Kalibata City, I can’t help but remember all the fun, educational, interesting memories I’ve made with my friends. I am eager to see what life has in store for me after graduation, and I won’t forget my school, SD Daqu KalCi”, said Nashwa Khalisa, another happy alumna.

Another alumna, Calista Anandya said enthusiastically, “I learned at school how to succeed in the future. The very first thing I have learned in life is respect. I remember the time when one of my Daqu teachers taught my class the golden rule of respect, where we ‘treat others as you would like them to treat you’. That was really unforgettable”.

“For me, graduating is a way to tell myself how proud I am to succeeded this far. It would also mean going to a different environment and experiencing all the thriving possibilities that the new school will offer”, said M. Haqqi Ramadhan, one of the alumni who looked so happy in graduating from SD Daqu Kalci.

The junior students performed traditional dances and singing performances. Most parents who watched the show were so impressed with students’ talent even though they only had a very short time to prepare for it. Parents were also impressed with students’ sympathy towards Palestinian struggle for independence.

The graduation ceremony is planned to be conducted annually and we would invite more honorable guests to come so that our school will be known more publicly, said Mr. Abdul Wahid Basyir, SH.I., Principal of Daqu Kalibata City who was interviewed on site.
