Twelve santri Pesantren Tahfizh Daarul Qur’an participated at the Spelling Bee competition in The English First (EF) building at Tangerang,  Saturday (2/11). The competition is participated  9 people from the 8th Grade, 2 people from the 7th Grade and 1 person from the 9th Grade. The Students arrived at the place at 10AM, they’ve came early so they can study first before the competition starts. The competition starts at 11AM, before that they have to re-register themselves at the main lobby, when they’ve finish they got some free food and vouchers from the EF managers, after that they went to the 3rd floor which is the waiting room to prepare themselves before the competition starts.

The competition has 4 rounds, at the first 2 rounds we are listen to the judge and writer. Then at the 2 last rounds are the rounds that you have to spell the words with our mouth. There are many students from other schools especially EF students, there English speaking was amazing, because there are many native speakers on their school too. The writing round was still hard, there was 25 words that we have to write in the first round. After the first round was finished the students gathered again at the waiting room to wait and hear the announcement on who will be participating in the next round, the results there was only 4 students from Daarul Qur’an who got in to the 2nd round, we see how hard it is, they said “The 2nd round is really harder than the first”.

Recently, the competitors went to the waiting room again to hear the announcement of the next round, but no one santri from Daarul Qur’an get in to the 3rd round of The Spelling Bee, we were a little disappointed, but that doesn’t mean it will hold back our spirit, even though we lost, we still get  many memories and experiences from The Spelling Bee competition, I got to admit it was fun, even though we lost, but remember “There’s always next year!”
